2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

Submitting a matter outline or contact form does not of itself create a legal relationship or an obligation on Bumi Chambers to act. A legal relationship is only formed upon the execution of a written engagement letter or scope of instructions signed by both parties.

You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract to instruct Bumi Chambers.

3. Website Use

The Website is intended to provide general information about Bumi Chambers and its services. Nothing on the Website constitutes legal advice. No solicitor-client relationship arises from reading or using the Website.

You may use the Website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

4. Legal Services — Terms of Engagement

The specific terms on which legal services are provided are set out in the engagement letter or scope of instructions agreed with each Client. The following general terms apply to all engagements unless varied in writing:

4.1 Scope

Our instructions are limited to the scope set out in the engagement letter. We are not instructed on matters outside that scope unless agreed in a subsequent written amendment.

4.2 Fees

Fees are as set out in the fee proposal attached to or incorporated in the engagement letter. Fixed-scope fees are payable as described in the fee proposal. Staged fees are invoiced at each milestone as described. All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) exclusive of any applicable taxes.

4.3 Payment

Invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed. We reserve the right to suspend services on matters where invoices remain overdue by more than 30 days.

4.4 Confidentiality

All information provided to us in connection with an engagement is treated as confidential. We will not disclose client information to third parties except as necessary to carry out instructions, as required by law, or with the client's express consent.

4.5 Professional indemnity

Bumi Chambers maintains professional indemnity insurance as required by the Malaysian Bar. Details are available on request.

5. User Responsibilities

When submitting a matter outline or contact form, you agree that:

6. Intellectual Property

While we take reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of information on the Website, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the completeness, accuracy, or suitability of the Content for any particular purpose.

Nothing on the Website should be construed as legal advice. For advice specific to your situation, please contact us directly to arrange an engagement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Bumi Chambers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Website or reliance on its Content. Our total liability to any user in connection with the Website shall not exceed RM 500.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law.

Our liability to Clients in connection with legal services is governed by the engagement letter and applicable professional conduct rules.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Website at any time without notice if we reasonably believe you are in breach of these Terms.

Either party may terminate an engagement in accordance with the terms of the engagement letter. Upon termination, all outstanding fees for work performed to the termination date remain payable.

10. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the use of the Website shall be governed by the laws of Malaysia. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, and in particular the courts of Kuala Lumpur.

Disputes arising from a client engagement are subject to the dispute resolution provisions set out in the engagement letter, which may provide for mediation or other forms of resolution before litigation.

11. General Provisions

Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bumi Chambers in connection with your use of the Website. For Clients, the engagement letter and these Terms together constitute the entire agreement.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it subsequently.

Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
